In teaching special education you may have to cover multiple subjects. This site is beneficial for that because it provides information and activities to subjects ranging from anatomy to spelling. This site will enhance the students ability to comprehend the subject matter. It allows them to read about the subject, play games while still learning about the subject, and even provide educational songs which can be downloaded. This site is great for teachers mainly because it is free, which would enable a student to use this site at home as well as the classroom. Kidsknowit.com is also great because it provides the teacher with different ways to cover the material. That fact alone is outstanding for a special education setting because the children sometimes need different methods used in order to master the material. Limitations of this site may be that at first it is somewhat difficult to navigate. It is also pretty busy which may not be the greatest thing for some special needs students. If I were to use this site in a classroom I would mainly use it as a way to enhance the material. For example, I would use the interactive games and the songs after I felt a I had covered a sufficient amount of material previously.

I agree with Steven that the page is quite busy, which may make it difficult for some special needs students, however I think the pictures may help as a navigational tool. I think this website would be great for many students, however some of the subject matter may be too advanced for elementary special education students. As an elementary special education teacher, I would need to find age appropriate games and activities to supplement the information I would be teaching. *JN

Special needs students may feel, at times, alone. Alone because they feel that they are the only one with their disability. This website, I feel, is a great way to counteract with that. Ldonline.org allows students to post artwork, stories, books, or simply send an "e-card". This site would enable students to be able to see something of their own on a website, which could be extremely rewarding to them, or gain a pen-pal helping them emotionally. This site also has a link for parents. The parents site has links for resources, articles, contact information for professionals and disability centers. The only limitation for this site would be that the home page isn't really appealing for young students, however if you click on the link for students that is nullified. As a teacher i would use this site to enable my students to connect and interact with other children with special needs. I would be particularly interested in the "e-card" capability. This would be beneficial to the students because they would be able to learn from each other about their disability, or possibly learn about another culture.
This site is very visually pleasing. Also its not too crowded, Like Steve said the "kids" tab really reuses the distractions, it gives you four option: art gallery, your stories, books and e-cards. I think that any teacher in a resource room could book mark this page and use it as a reward for their students, when they complete work together you could upload it for everyone to see. This gives children with learning disabilities a unique opportunity to connect with other students. I really like this site i gues the only draw back is that the educators and parents pages aren't as simple as the kids. (SC)
